When Rakshit Shetty Was Almost Arrested After City Court Issued A ‘Non-Bailable’ Warrant Against Him Over Kirik Party’s ‘Copyright Violation’ Controversy
Kannada actor-director Rakshit Shetty is receiving quite some praises for producing and acting in the recently released film 777 Charlie. The film is not only praised by animal lovers but also has left critics teary-eyed with the heartwarming storyline.
This hasn’t been the first time Rakshit has won the hearts of the audience, his films like Ricky, Simple Agi Ondh Love Story, Ulidavaru Kandanthe and many others have also been critically acclaimed. However, one of his such hit films, Kirik Party was not only a super hit but was also the reason for him being accused of copyright violation.
For those who are unaware, Lahari Velu, director of Lahari Music had accused Rakshit Shetty’s banner Paramvah Studios of copyright violation when his film Kirik Party was right about to release. In his complaint, Velu has claimed that the song ‘Hey who are you’ was very similar to ‘Madhya rathrili,’ which was a song from V Ravichandran’s Shanthi Kranthi and was owned by Velu himself.
Not just Rakshit Shetty, Lahari Velu and his company also filed a copyright violation complaint against Paramvah Studios and the film’s music director Ajaneesh Lokanath.
Due to these charges by Velu, he was trolled heavily by Rakshit’s fans. Kirik Party was released without the song, however, the makers of the film were allowed to reintroduce the song in the film after depositing Rs 10 lakh in court.
Rakshit claims that he and the makers had won the copyright violation case but never made that public. However, In 2020, a non-bailable warrant was issued against him and Ajaneesh after they failed to show up when the court summoned them.
When asked to reply to the charges, according to Deccan Chronicles, Shetty had denied the charges and said, “We haven’t copied even one note from the song. Hamsalekha and Ravichandran have inspired me since childhood. Because of that, we dedicated the song to them. Both of us understood each other’s viewpoints.”
Nevertheless, Lahari Velu, Shetty and Ajaneesh later end their war over the song and call it a truce.

His best works include movies namely Nam Areal Ond Dina, Simple Agi Ondh Love Story, Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu, Jigarthanda, etc. Apart from his popular movie performances, he also made headlines earlier for reportedly dating Rashmika Mandanna. There were reports that they got engaged in 2017 but broke up in 2018.

National Award-winning actor Dhanush’s Telugu-Tamil bilingual movie ‘SIR’ is being mounted on a high budget with lavish production values and is all set for theatrical release on February 17, 2023.
The film’s first single ‘Mastaaru Mastaaru’ in Telugu, and ‘Vaa Vaathi’ in Tamil (both composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar and sung by Shweta Menon), was released by the makers a few days ago and they received a good response.
Directed by Venky Alluri, SIR also features Samyuktha Menon. Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani and Narra Srinivas essay supporting roles. It is being made by leading production house Sithara Entertainments in association with Fortune Four Cinemas.
Some time back, the makers released the teaser of the movie that shows Dhanush as a junior lecturer and it also got a humongous response.

Vikram Vedha Makers Pushkar & Gayatri Come Up Tamil Crime Thriller Series ‘Vadhandhi’
Following up on success of their critically acclaimed ‘Suzhal – The Vortex’, Pushkar and Gayatri have come up with an edge-of-the-seat Tamil crime thriller, ‘Vadhandhi – The Fable of Velonie’. The eight-episode thriller produced by Pushkar and Gayatri under their banner Wallwatcher Films, has been created by Andrew Louis.
“Crime as a genre is something that brings out the art of storytelling in its most raw and natural form. With Vadhandhi – The Fable of Velonie, our intent is to completely capture the audiences’ imagination, and question societal biases. This story will not only entertain audiences, but will also make them ponder, long after the credits roll,” said Pushkar and Gayatri, creative producers of the series.
“It was wonderful collaborating with writer-director-creator Andrew Louis, with whom we shared a common vision, to create this enthralling crime thriller,” they said.
Prime Video, Thursday announced the global premiere of the Amazon Original series on December 2.
Aparna Purohit, Head of India Originals, Prime Video, said: “Following the overwhelming response to Suzhal – The Vortex, we believe that Vadhandhi – our second collaboration with Pushkar and Gayatri, further strengthens our regional content slate. This raw, atmospheric and heartbreakingly gorgeous thriller has been skilfully written and directed by Andrew Louis.”
Much like its title ‘Vadhandhi’ which means rumours, the show delves into the world of young and beautiful Velonie, played by debutante, Sanjana, whose story is riddled with rumours. A troubled but determined cop, played by S.J. Suryah, finds himself caught in the web of lies but is hell bent on finding the truth. The rich and layered tapestry of the small town makes the fable of Velonie even more complex but enigmatic. The show also features an ensemble cast including celebrated actors like Laila, M. Nasser, Vivek Prasanna, Kumaran, and Smruthi Venkat in pivotal roles.
The eight-episode thriller will also be available in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada for Prime members.
